Giant cell tumor of bone diagnosis
The diagnostic points for giant cell tumors of bone are: 1. Clinically, there is joint pain, and swelling, pain, and dysfunction occur when the tumor approaches the joint cavity. 2. The X-ray manifestation shows that the lesion is located at the metaphyseal end, presenting as eccentric, osteolytic, and expansive bone destruction, with clear boundaries and sometimes appearing as soap bubble like changes, often with obvious encapsulation. 3. Pathological examination revealed that the tumor is composed of a dense and uniformly sized monocyte population, with a large number of multinucleated giant cells distributed in various parts. There are spindle like fibroblasts and circular tissue cell like cells distributed in the matrix. The X-ray changes of giant cell tumor of bone provide important clues for the diagnosis of this disease. The main manifestation is osteolytic lesions invading the epiphysis, which are eccentric and expansive, with no sclerosis at the edges or reactive new bone formation. The bone cortex of the affected area becomes thinner and shows soap bubble like changes. Accompanied by pathological fractures, caused by osteolytic destruction, usually without displacement.
