Ureteral cancer symptom
There are more males than females with renal pelvis and ureteral cancer, with a male to female ratio of 2:1. The high incidence age is between 60 and 70 years old. 58% to 98% of patients with renal pelvis and ureteral cancer have gross hematuria as their initial symptom. The characteristic of gross hematuria is painless, intermittent, and complete gross hematuria. Some patients may form long strips of blood clots in the ureter due to a slightly higher amount of bleeding in a short period of time, also known as "earthworm like blood clots" that are excreted from the urine. A few patients may experience discomfort, dull pain, and swelling in the lower back due to tumor obstruction at the junction of the renal pelvis and ureter. Occasionally, renal colic may be caused by clots or tumor debris passing through the ureter. When the tumor grows or obstructs and causes hydronephrosis in the renal pelvis and ureter, patients may experience dull pain in the lower back, but it is rare to have a mass in the lower back. Late stage patients develop anemia and renal dysfunction; Symptoms of cachexia such as lower limb edema, weight loss, and weakness. In recent years, due to the emphasis on health examinations, there have also been reports that 10% to 15% of patients have no clinical symptoms and are only occasionally discovered during health examinations or other diseases.
