1、 What is Spect CT
SPECT/CT, also known as single photon emission computed tomography or X-ray computed tomography, is a medical imaging device that combines SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) and CT (computed tomography) imaging techniques. SPECT/CT can be used for the diagnosis of various diseases such as brain, cardiovascular, thyroid, lungs, kidneys, and bones.
SPECT is an instrument that utilizes single photon nuclide labeled drugs to achieve in vivo functional and metabolic imaging. It is one of the basic instruments in nuclear medicine imaging and has been equipped in most prefecture level hospitals, playing an important role in disease imaging diagnosis. Its characteristic is that it can reflect information on blood flow perfusion and material metabolism of tissues and organs, and the nuclides used have a long half-life, which is easy to prepare and transport, so the cost of use is low and easy to promote. However, due to resolution limitations, it is difficult to clearly display the anatomical structure, resulting in difficulty in locating the lesion. At present, SPECT/CT fusion models have been developed, which can accurately fuse the functional images of SPECT with the images of diagnostic CT, making up for the shortcomings of SPECT in anatomical positioning and resolution, and have great application prospects.
2、 Clinical significance
Abnormal results: Although SPECT is not as good as CT, MRT, and ultrasound in displaying fine anatomical structures, its main advantage is that it can display changes in blood flow, function, and metabolism of organs or lesions with high specificity, in addition to displaying the location, shape, and size of organs or lesions, which is conducive to early diagnosis and specific diagnosis of diseases, For example, bone imaging can simultaneously display the morphology of various bones throughout the body and the blood supply and metabolism of various local bones, and can diagnose tumor bone metastasis more than 3-6 months earlier than X-ray; Non invasive myocardial perfusion imaging is currently the most accurate diagnostic method for myocardial ischemia and myocardial cell viability analysis; The diagnosis of thyroid morphology and function, as well as the differentiation of benign and malignant properties of thyroid nodules, have considerable advantages; The sensitivity of renal dynamic imaging in diagnosing renal function is significantly higher than that of X-ray pyelography, which has unique value in understanding renal function and urinary tract infarction. Target population for examination: Patients with organ and tumor related diseases can be examined.
3、 Precautions
Unsuitable population: No special requirements.
Taboos before examination: Before taking the X-ray, the doctor will notify the patient to urinate, eat, or other preparations, which is also to make the examination more accurate.
Requirements for examination: When taking photos, the patient should be lying in bed and able to breathe normally. According to the doctor's requirements, a certain position should be taken, and the detector should be as close to the patient's body as possible to take one or more photos. At this time, only photos should be taken without adding any additional radiation.
