1. What is PET-CT

Pet-ct integrates PET and CT. PET provides detailed functional, metabolic and other molecular information of the lesion, while CT provides precise anatomical positioning of the lesion. With the characteristics of sensitivity, accuracy, specificity and accurate positioning, the whole body can be understood at a glance. To achieve the purpose of early detection of lesions and diagnosis of diseases. The emergence of PET-CT is another revolution in medical imaging, which has been recognized and widely concerned by the medical community, and can be called "the crown of modern medical high-tech".

Pet-ct is the integration of the functions of the most high-end PET scanner and advanced spiral CT equipment, which is mainly used in the early detection and diagnosis of major diseases in the fields of tumor, brain and heart.

2. Characteristic advantages of PET-CT

1. Early days. PET-CT can diagnose cancer and other diseases early. Due to the active metabolism of tumor cells, the ability to take up imaging agents is 2-10 times that of normal cells, forming obvious "light spots" on the image, so hidden small lesions (larger than 5mm) can be found before the anatomical structure changes in the early stage of the tumor.

2. Safety. Check safe and non-invasive. Most of the nuclides used for examination are the basic elements of human life or very similar nuclides, and the half-life is very short, and the dose received is slightly higher than that of a chest CT scan, which is safe and efficient, and can be repeated in a short time.

3. Be accurate. The test results are more accurate. Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, it can provide valuable functional and metabolic information, while providing accurate anatomical information, which can help to determine and find the exact location of the tumor, and its examination results have higher accuracy than PET or CT alone, especially significantly improve the diagnostic ability of small lesions.

4. Be quick. Get a quick full body exam. Other imaging examinations scan selected parts of the body, while PET-CT a whole body scan (neck, chest, abdomen, pelvic cavity) only takes about 20 minutes, can respectively obtain PET, CT and the fusion of the whole body cross-section, sagittal plane and coronal plane images, can directly see the disease in the whole body affected parts and conditions.

5, cost-effective. Can detect the tumor early, determine the nature, its treatment cost is reduced by 1-5 times, survival time is increased by 1-5 times, even 10 times; A single examination can accurately determine the benign and malignant of most tumors and whether there is metastasis, avoiding multiple examinations to delay disease diagnosis or make wrong treatment plan; It can accurately stage the tumor, evaluate the treatment effect, and reduce unnecessary treatment methods and doses. It can accurately determine the recurrence of tumor after tumor treatment, although the cost of a single examination is slightly higher, but actually avoid unnecessary surgery, chemoradiotherapy and hospitalization, and the overall cost-effective is outstanding.

3. Suitable population for PET-CT

1. Long-term disease history

Since the disease has been a long time, such as hepatitis B, chronic atrophic gastritis, etc., most of them are controlled by drugs on weekdays, such people especially need to pay attention to physical examination, especially when the degree of symptoms gradually increases, we must pay attention to.

Experts pointed out that people with a long-term chronic history should regularly undergo PET-CT examination to exclude some aggravation and complications, and make early detection to avoid greater losses.

2. Family history of cancer

Family history of cancer refers to several generations of family history of cancer. Through scientific research, cancer has a certain heritability, especially esophageal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer, bowel cancer and other common malignant tumors, such as parents have such a history, the probability of children suffering from the disease is several times higher. Therefore, early detection and monitoring of people with a family history of cancer is very necessary.

Experts believe that the family history of cancer is an important indicator to assess the risk of genetic mutations and reasonable screening, and recommend that such people maintain a healthy lifestyle and regular PET-CT screening for cancer prevention habits.

3, bad life habits

Long-term irregular work and rest, overeating, drinking and smoking, irregular bleeding in the lower body of middle-aged and elderly women, and no good health habits; Often cough, expectoration, chest pain, blood in sputum, dyspnea and other symptoms; Irregular stool, blood in stool, abdominal mass; Progressive wasting, obvious weight loss, etc., these situations need to attract people's attention, through accurate examination and diagnosis, reduce the probability of tumor occurrence, or early detection, early treatment.

4. Clinical application of PET-CT

Pet-ct provides much more predictive and therapeutic processing information than PET and CT alone, it surpasses the existing fields of PET and CT alone, and can complete all the functions of ultra-high-end CT, and can complete the functions of PET- 20 minutes can complete the whole body CT scan, which is more than 60% more efficient than PET alone. It can also provide more accurate and rapid images of myocardial and cerebral blood perfusion function than CT. PET-CT fusion images can well describe the role of disease on biochemical processes, distinguish physiological and pathological uptake, detect early signs of disease before anatomic evidence of disease, and even detect subclinical tumors smaller than 2 mm. To provide the best treatment plan and screen the most effective treatment drugs for correctly determining the planned target area of radiotherapy (combining clinical target area with biological target area), detecting the effects of drugs and radiotherapy during treatment. Anatomic localization plus functional imaging of the lesion site.

Specific application

1. Epilepsy localization: accurate localization of brain epileptic lesions to provide evidence for surgical or gamma knife resection of epileptic lesions;

2. Characterization and recurrence judgment of brain tumors: characterization of benign and malignant brain tumors, determination of glioblastoma boundaries, differentiation of radiation necrosis and recurrence after tumor treatment, selection of tumor biopsy sites, etc.

3. Early diagnosis of dementia: early diagnosis, staging and differentiation from other types of dementia, such as vascular dementia.

4. Brain receptor research: Analysis of brain receptors for Parkinson's disease, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

5. Cerebrovascular diseases: PET-CT can sensitively capture the changes in brain metabolism caused by cerebral ischemic attack, so it can make early diagnosis and location of transient ischemic attack (TIA) and cerebral infarction, and evaluate the efficacy and prognosis.

6. Drug research: Pharmacological evaluation and medication guidance of neuropsychotropic drugs were conducted to observe the changes in brain glucose metabolism of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc., to provide preoperative basis for stereotactic surgical treatment and postoperative follow-up.

7. Advanced health examination: Early tumors can be cured, but most tumors are already in the middle and late stages when they are found, so routine screening of tumors cannot be ignored. PET-CT is simple, safe, comprehensive and accurate, and is the best means for population health examination.

8. Lung cancer examination: 70% of lung cancer has reached the middle and late stage when diagnosed, and the middle and late stage lung cancer has passed the optimal treatment period. The most advanced imaging instrument that can detect lung cancer lesions in the early stage is obviously PETCT. The ultra-high degree of inspiration of PET-CT makes it possible to detect the trace functional metabolism of the human nervous system, which not only improves the clarity and specificity of the lesions, but also greatly improves the detection ability and diagnosis rate of small lesions, making the positioning more accurate.

5. Inspection process of PET-CT
