The benign teratoma in intracranial germ cell tumor was only surgically resected, but the stereoscopic multi-point sampling of pathological specimens should be emphasized to avoid missing malignant components. For other malignant NGGCT, chemotherapy was followed by radiotherapy. If the tumor did not disappear, surgery was performed and chemotherapy was continued for 2 courses after surgery. Then regular review, if there is a recurrence should be chemotherapy.

The role of surgery in the treatment of GE patients is mainly confirmed by biopsy and ventriculoperitoneal shunt (V-P shunt). After the diagnosis of GE, the main treatment means is platinum-based chemotherapy, and local low-dose radiotherapy is applied to the original tumor site after the tumor disappears. This not only avoids whole brain and whole spinal cord irradiation, but also reduces the sequelae caused by radiotherapy. Germinoma of pineal region is often accompanied by obstructive hydrocephalus, and V-P shunt should be performed first to relieve the increased intracranial pressure, then chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Other parts of the germ cell tumor can be directly treated with chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy.
