Treatment of fallopian tube cancer

If you have been diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer, your doctor will discuss the best options for treating it. This depends on several factors, including the size, location, and stage of the tumor, your age, overall health, and desire to have children.

One or more of the following therapies may be used to treat fallopian tube cancer or to help relieve symptoms.

Tubal operation

Surgery, followed by chemotherapy, is the main treatment. The type of surgery depends on the stage of the tumor. Surgery to treat cancer can be performed at the same time as a biopsy.

The fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus and cervix, as well as nearby lymph nodes, are usually removed. Sometimes surgery can be minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.

chemotherapy

For fallopian tube cancer, chemotherapy is usually given after surgery.

radiotherapy

Radiation therapy is not usually used to treat fallopian tube cancer. But if cancer can't be treated, it can be used to help you feel better. It is sometimes given after surgery and chemotherapy.
