Renal cancer symptom
Because of the location of the kidneys, many kidney cancer symptoms do not manifest until the tumor has grown quite large. Most are found while treating other conditions, such as kidney stones or back pain. If there are symptoms, they vary from person to person.
Symptoms of kidney cancer may include:
Blood in the urine is called hematuria. This is the most common symptom of kidney cancer. Usually, hematuria gives urine a rusty or dark red color. Other times, it's invisible to the naked eye. Hematuria is not a sure sign of kidney cancer because it can be caused by other conditions, such as kidney stones or urinary tract infections. Everyone who has blood in their urine should see a doctor.
A mass on the side or lower back
Unexplained fever for weeks
Unintentional weight loss
Persistent dull pain or pain in the side, abdomen, or lower back
Feeling tired or in poor health
Ankle and leg swelling. This symptom occurs when a kidney tumor prevents the kidneys from clearing excess fluid from the body.
These symptoms don't always mean you have kidney cancer. However, it is important to discuss any symptoms with your doctor, as they may indicate other health problems.
